Rose Quartz Bath Sanctuary - A Healing Ritual by Maya

When you’re feeling in need of some healing, or are over-whelmed by your responsibilities, you may not feel in the mood to sit down and meditate. Sometimes, your regular spiritual practice doesn’t hit the spot. When cortisol levels are high in your body from stress, sitting down to meditate can seem like torture! We’ve all been there. You know you need to unwind, but when you try to, you mind races, your body feels uncomfortable, and it can feel like your spiritual practice is just another demand from your life that you’re struggling to meet. When your spiritual practice feels more like a chore than a sacred ritual, changing your practice can give you a new lease of life! The important part is to recognise that the sacred rituals you choose to observe are there to serve and support you – not the other way around! If you don’t have a bath, a ritual shower is also a possibility. Bathing rituals offer you a time to be yourself. You remove your clothes (that represent the outer world), and remove yourself from the outer-world for a time in order to cleanse. It can be an opportunity for you to really be with yourself if you make it so. When taking a ritual bath, you’re bringing new meaning to an old ritual. You have bathed regularly from birth and throughout your life. But preparing the bathroom for your ritual can transform the experience into something special, deeply healing, and spiritually nourishing. This ritual uses Rose Quartz energy because Rose Quartz is connected with the Heart Chakra. Connecting with the Heart Chakra allows us to balance the earth energies and spiritual energies within to restore balance and bring peace. Working with Heart Chakra energy makes this bathing ritual a perfect self-care option! Your bathroom can become a temple; and your bath time can become an opportunity for you to show yourself some love. I recommend you begin by planning the elements you will combine in your ritual. Here are a few ideas to get you started! 1. Place a piece of Rose Quartz in the bath. Rose Quartz creates an aura of comforting energy around you. And when you place it in the bath, it imbues the water with those properties so that you can absorb them. You can use visualisation to enhance this by picturing pink light emanating from your crystal and filling the water; and then see the energy being absorbed by your body as you relax in the water. 2. Lighting a candle (in a safe spot!) can create a magickal vibe! Dimming the lights can help to soothe your over-stimulated mind – and that can help you to relax and let go of your worries for just a little while. 3. Add some sea salt to the bath water. Salt has many healing properties. It’s antibacterial, and can stimulate the detoxification processes in the body. It also increases the “weight” of the water, which can allow you to float in the bath if you put enough salt in! 4. Add some Epsom salts to the bath water. Epsom salts are high in magnesium and we can absorb the magnesium through our skin while relaxing in the bath. Magnesium relaxes the body further, reduces pain/inflammation, alleviates insomnia, and reduce tension. 5. Add some lavender essential oil. Lavender oil is excellent for maintaining healthy and youthful skin. It has anti-bacterial and anti- fungal properties, and some believe it can also speed up wound- healing. But on top of that, breathing in the delicious perfume as it evaporates in a warm bath can relax the nervous system, reduce anxiety, and help you to wind down. 6. Add some milk to your bath. Adding milk to your bath can soften and soothe your skin. Cleopatra was famous for her beautiful, youthful skin; and she famously bathed in asses milk! Adding a mug- full (or two) of milk to your bathwater can nourish your skin (from the fats in the milk), calm any inflammation (rashes, eczema etc), and the lactic acid naturally and gently exfoliates the dead skin cells from the surface. Also, the opaque white water can reflect your candle light beautifully! 7. Bring a cup of chamomile tea into the bath with you. Chamomile is the herb par excellence for reducing stress and anxiety. It can help you get a good night’s sleep, reduce inflammation, and help to balance the digestive system. 8. Music. Classical music can be a great addition to a bath ritual. I find Bach’s Cello Suites to be particularly relaxing! But any music you find calming and beautiful can weave some additional magick into your ritual. Music isn’t just for pleasure! Mozart’s Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major has been shown to reduce the risk of seizures in those with epilepsy. Classical music has also been shown to enhance brain development in babies, and enhance concentration and memory in adults. These are just some ideas. What you ultimately choose to add to your bathing ritual should have meaning for you. Remember your rituals are there to serve your needs – and what works for you will be unique. Experiment and explore yourself by trying different combinations. If you don’t have Rose Quartz, but you work with Ethereal Crystals, creating a Rose Quartz Crystal Grid might be a good idea. If you don’t enjoy classical music, but have a favourite mantra, you might choose to play it or chant it during your ritual. Perhaps lavender oil doesn’t do anything for you, but you find geranium oil calming, that would be a good choice! And maybe, instead of chamomile tea, you prefer mint. When you’re setting out a ritual, keep in mind what you hope to achieve while you’re planning. That way, each element you bring into your ritual will have been selected enhance the experience for you. It also means that while you’re planning the ritual, you’re already tuning into your goals and getting things moving in the right direction.
