Archangel Raphael: Patron of Healers & Lightworkers Archangel Raphael is beloved by energy workers and healers of all kinds. His name means “God heals” or “The Medicine of God” and he is a patron of doctors, nurses, carers and healers. He provides comfort, pain relief, inner peace and physical healing; always in alignment with the highest spiritual principles. Healing cannot be given to someone who isn’t ready to receive it and forcing the issue can carry negative karmic implications. Archangel Raphael operates in accordance with Universal Law so healing occurs in the best way for the person and without harming their dignity and integrity as an autonomous spiritual being. Archangel Raphael & the Caduceus Wand Symbol As well as being’s God’s own physician, Archangel Raphael is a patron of travellers, the blind, relationships, marriage, the sick, hospitals and parents. His weapon is the Caduceus wand; also known as the “Wand of Mercury”. This is depicted as a winged staff with an orb at the top and two serpents entwined around it. Traditionally this wand belonged to the Greek messenger deity, Hermes. Hermes is associated with the Roman, Mercury. And both Hermes and Mercury share many attributes with Archangel Raphael. As well as healing, they are all associated with communication, relationships and the medicinal properties of plants. However, Mercury and Hermes are also considered patrons of commerce, gambling and theft and at that point the semblance ends! Archangel Raphael & Spiritual Support on the Healing Journey As a patron of travellers, Archangel Raphael supports those on a spiritual journey; using techniques like journaling and meditation to translate our ineffable thoughts into words is a magickal process and can be deeply healing. Archangel Raphael can help us with this kind of work – or any work that involves the mind, learning, concentration and focus. He is a patron of relationships and that includes our relationship with ourselves. So if you’re using any form of writing for self-exploration as an aid to healing, it might be useful to whisper a prayer for help and support from him before you pick up your own ‘healing wand’ (or ‘pen’ as you probably call it!). Archangel Raphael & Music for Meditation Music is also sacred to Archangel Raphael. He is credited with having inspired the music for Handel’s Messiah. Music can have a powerful effect on the mind; helping to slow down racing thoughts and increase focus. The brain and nervous system are associated with Archangel Raphael; as well as the respiratory system. Energy Portal in Fatima Portugal It is believed that an energetic portal exists in Fatima, Portugal, through which Archangel Raphael can be reached. In 1917, Mother Mary appeared to 3 children in Fatima. The children were canonized in 2017 by the Catholic Church. An angel had appeared to them before the Virgin Mary and many believe the angel to have been Archangel Raphael as he has a strong connection to Mother Mary with some sources suggesting he is her twin flame. Archangel Raphael Meditation & Connection All light beings and Ascended Masters have their own unique attributes and learning these can help us to form a connection. It can give us a way to focus our work that energetically sends the message of our intention to the being we’re working with. For example, you could sit down to work with Archangel Raphael anywhere and at any time. But you might experience a deeper connection if you put a picture of a Caduceus wand in front of you. Or play a particular type of music that you find very soothing. Experiment to find what sort of symbols work best for you!
