My Personal Beliefs & Spirituality I am a practicing witch and work shamanically in the Ancient Norse Traditions of Seidr and Galdr. I work extensively with and with ritual, spellcrafting, dance and meditation as part of my personal spiritual development work as well as through my spiritual services for others. I particularly enjoy mantra meditation (japa) too and recommend this practice very highly. I combine regular mantra meditation with Yin Yoga, Reiki Healing & Shamanic Journeying within my practice, but after practicing magick for over 30 years, my approach has become very much a part of my day to day life. I lead a monastic existence and allocate a lot of time for the pursuit of art, creative pursuits and singing, which also form a vital part of my spiritual practice. My personal experience has lead me to conclude that often organised religion tends to promote a “one size fits all” spiritual philosophy; and to my mind, that’s not a spiritually progressive or helpful idea. People are individual and everyone’s path is unique. What works for one person may not work for you. So I encourage my students and clients in their personal power and assist them to develop their skills, confidence, intuition and authenticity through spiritual practices that nourish their needs and inspire their souls. My belief that people should be in the 'driving seat' of their lives and should be empowered, sets me at odds with a number of 'organised' religions! However, my belief that religion (putting 'truth' into action) is vital to human development sets me at odds with some 'new age' circles where eclecticism has been taken to such an extreme as to provide no foundation for development and expression of 'truth'! To summarise my own beliefs, I would like to quote some spiritual masters of the past: “There is but One God. His name is Truth. He is the Creator. He fears none. He is without hate. He never dies. He is beyond the cycle of births and death. He is self illuminated. He is realized by the kindness of the True Guru. He was True in the beginning. He was True when the ages commenced and has ever been True. He is also True now.” (Guru Nanak) "Realisation of Truth is higher than all else. Higher still is truthful living." (Guru Nanak) And a little inspiration from the ancient Greek Poet Pindar: "Single is the race; single of men and of gods; from a single mother we both draw breath. But a difference of power in everything keeps us apart. Yet we can in greatness of mind or of the body be like the immortals; though we know not to what goal fate has written that we shall run."
