What is Reiki?

The word Reiki (pronounced 'Ray-Kee') is defined as Universal or Spiritual (Rei) Life Force Energy (Ki). Traditional Usui Reiki (also called Usui Shiki Ryoho) is a very powerful healing system - but it is also essentially very simple and anyone can learn to use it to help them develop a sense of wholeness on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. Reiki can be used to heal yourself on all levels, enhance your spiritual development, heal other people, heal animals and for many other purposes.

The Reiki healing system is believed to have originated in the Far East where it was rediscovered by a Japanese doctor called Mikao Usui.  Following years of study, Usui underwent a spontaneous attunement to the energy we now call Reiki.  He was shown how to The Reiki healing system is believed to have originated in the Far East where it was rediscovered to work with the technique to heal others as well as to teach and attune people to the system.

What is Mayastar Academy & what does it mean that it is accredited by the INHA?

Mayastar Academy is a professional school of natural healing and spiritual development, accredited by the International Natural Healers Association and the World Metaphysical Assocation.  As such, all Mayastar courses are fully approved by the INHA and the WMA to ensure they are of a high quality.  Accreditation also means that the INHA and WMA have assessed Mayastar Academy to ensure that I (the Founder) have the required level of expertise to meet their high standards. In addition, the course materials I supply have been and assessed and my qualifications verified, in order to be awarded accreditation.

What is an attunement?

An attunement is an energy empowerment/initiation that is passed from someone who has already been attuned to that energy to another person.  Depending on the system that the attunement is for, the attunement may simply be to initiate a subtle change to the vibration of the energy field of the recipient in order that they resonate more strongly with that energy in the future and may use it for healing and so on.  Other attunements involve symbols being imprinted into the energy field of the recipient – but the effect is similar – a symbol resonates at a particular frequency and allows for a particular facet of Universal Energy to be tapped into by the attunee.

During an attunement, the facilitator acts as a conduit to channel the relevant energy to the recipient.  The spiritual guides and higher self of the recipient are requested to oversee the process and all attunements are sent in the spirit of Universal Love; that is, in accordance with the law of free-will and for the good of all.  Empowerment conferred during an attunement in this spirit cannot be abused or used to cause harm.

How does a distant attunement work?

Distant attunements are not part of Usui's, Hayashi's or Takata's teaching but are a successful and powerful means of sending attunements. In Reiki (for example) distant attunements are a non-traditional technique but are a logical extension of distance healing and application of the Distance symbol.

Some people are quite skeptical about the process and I think if I hadn't experienced the sending and receiving of attunements and healing distantly I would be very skeptical myself!  In fact, my experience has been that there is no difference in the energy at all - if anything, the experience of the recipient receiving distance healing/attunement tends to be more intense and I can only put this down to the fact that they are probably more relaxed in their home environment etc.

The reason distance energy healing/attunement is possible is because of the nature of the energy used.  The energy employed in modalities such as Ama Deus, Reiki and Violet Flame is Universal.  It is the Universal Life Force Energy (which may also be called 'God', 'Divine Light' or 'Universal Love') and it is infinite.  It cannot be depleted, it underlies all of creation and is not subject to the rules of time and space as lower frequency energy (such as light) is.

What is a Lightworker?

A Lightworker is someone who has a ‘calling’ to serve humanity in some way.  Some believe these are enlightened or spiritually advanced souls that have chosen to be reincarnated so that they may further the spiritual evolution of humanity as a whole by making their own contribution. Whether their ‘destiny’ was decided before this life or during it, Lightworkers are here to help humanity achieve its collective destiny.

Might I be a Lightworker?

You are a Lightworker if you feel called to heal others; want to resolve the world’s social and environmental problems; believe that spiritual methods can heal any situation; feel compelled to write, teach, or counsel others; and know that you are here for a higher purpose, even if you are unsure what it is or how to fulfil it.

I have received attunement to Reiki I (or II) already, can I just take the Master Level attunement with you?

I receive many requests for the Master Attunement on its own from those who have already been attuned to level II by another Master. The most common reason for this are the high fees charged by some Masters for this level (sometimes hundreds of pounds).  

I feel it is more appropriate for Reiki II initiates to receive all the attunements from me as part of a complete course up to the Master Level.  There are a couple of reasons for this:  Firstly, some people claiming to attune to Usui Shiki Ryoho use variations on the original symbols and I have come across at least one person who doesn't use one of the symbols at all! In addition to this, the attunements you receive preceding the Master Level will help to build up more of a rapport on the energy level, thereby facilitating the increased energy flow required for the Master Level attunement. 

In the case of someone who has been practicing Reiki II for some time, I would be prepared to do the first two attunements over a shorter period than if they were starting from the place of a complete beginner - but all three levels would be given.

Does the Complete Usui Reiki Course take me up to the Master Level or are there additional fees?

There are no additional fees and the Complete Usui Reiki Course covers all attunements up to Master Level.

I would like to do the Complete Reiki Course but can’t afford to pay in one go.  Do you have any payment plans available?

Certainly – you’ll find that Usui Level 1 is available through both my eBay shop and website for purchase on its own.  If you would like to pay for the complete course level-by-level simply buy a Level 1 course and then when you have completed that and are ready to go onto Level 2, we can arrange that.

Why are your prices so low compared to other teachers?

For several reasons really.  First of all, I don’t agree with the extremely high fees charged by some teachers because they put Reiki and other healing systems out of the reach of so many people.  Also, because the courses are web-based with distance attunements, I do not have the additional costs of organizing a suitable location for the student to receive their attunement and so on.

You are an ordained Reverend in the Universal Light.  What is the Universal Light?

The Universal Light is a legally recognised church and was established as a non-denominational, non-dogmatic, parapsychological and metaphysical church-without-walls. Its founder and patriarch Rev. Dr. Don Hauck, (originally ordained in a different church), set out to establish a simple church that would represent as closely as possible what he believed existed in “Spirit” (‘Spirit’ or ‘Energy’ is what followers of religion refer to as God, Alpha and Omega, or I AM THAT I AM; spiritualists refer to as The Light, God the Father/Mother, Creator, Primal Energy, or the Higher Power; and physicists, as the "Unified Field"). We refer to it as "THE UNIVERSAL LIGHT". What are the qualifications you have received that are listed on your website?

I have studied a number of energy healing modalities some of which are listed on my site and others not.  These include White Dove Reiki, Elemental Reiki, Ama Deus Shamanic Healing, Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki, Seichem, Violet Flame, Rún Valdr, Universal Rays, Rainbow Light Healing System, Solar & Lunar Light Empowerments, Orb of Life, Karuna Ki, Ethereal Crystals Healing and Kundalini Reiki.  I am also a Priestess of the Northern Tradition (Norse shamanic tradition) and have been initiated as a Wiccan High Priestess (in the Gardnerian tradition).  

The other qualifications I hold are diplomas awarded by Stonebridge Associated Colleges: Crystal Healing Practitioner Diploma; Meditation Diploma; Intra-Focal Therapy Diploma; Colour Therapy Diploma; Neuro-Linguistic Programming Diploma; Hand Reflexology Diploma; Integrated Therapeutic Counselling Diploma.
